A Hiking We Will Go!

We will be going on an adventure Sunday, April 17th! That is this Sunday peeps! So I hope you have marked off your calendars already since the college group has been promoting this event for a couple weeks now. This post is just another friendly reminder :)

Here's the basic info:
When? Sunday, April 17, 2011 from 11 a.m. to about 4 p.m. (ish)
Where? Meet in the college room, we will be driving together to Chantry Flats
What? We are hiking up to a beautiful waterfall and back!
Why? To enjoy God's beautiful creations (nature, friends, and conversations)

I am sure you are thinking: does it cost anything? and what should I wear/bring?
 1. Yes, it costs money. But, its only $6-8 (if you are feeling generous it would be much appreciated to get $8). The money goes to the sandwiches we will be making for our lunch and for parking.
2. You definitely should bring some water, it is going to be a hot day with highs in the 80's. Wear comfortable clothes that you can move around in. I suggest shorts, a good pair of sneakers/running shoes and either a t-shirt or tank top. A hat would probably be a good idea as well. And definitely bring some sunscreen!

So if this sounds like your kind of adventure, click here and say that you are attending the facebook event so I will know how much food I need to buy for lunch. Thanks!

Girls Serve Guys

Hey lovely College Group!

Girls Serve Guys Night is fast approaching! Is everyone ready for a night of excitement?! I hope so! Boys, be ready to be served and loved in the best way possible. And girls be ready to serve our boys with a heart full of love and humility. Make sure that you take off work for Friday, March 18, 6:30 to 10 p.m. because you will miss out on soooo much fun if you don't. If you are a guy, just dress accordingly (see the flyer) and arrive on time on the 18th with a good attitude and extreme levels of excitement. If you are a lady, there is more involved. Contact Laura Jensen or Tiffany Chase to get involved in the planning of this event! The ladies will be showing up early to set up and such, so be prepared in that respect. Also remember to dress accordingly as well. And if you have a task/assignment in regards to the night, be ready! Check out the flyer, feel free to print it out and give it to friends, or post it all around facebook to get the word out. It is going to be a wonderful night, hope to see you all there :)

Winter Retreat Sweetness...

I just wanted to thank all of you who took risks this past weekend to be present before God and before each other. I had a wonderful time and am truly grateful to be able to journey with you all. May we, as a community, live all of life before God.

College Events for January 2011

Praise God for the gift of another new year! I look forward to how God will work among us as we seek to glorify him in our lives and in this world.

This is whats going on for the College Community in January:

Sunday January 16th will be our first meeting of the month, during second hour.
Tuesday January 18th will be our college kickoff, at 7 pm. Ryan is starting a new teaching series taking a fresh look at the 'children's stories' from the Bible.

We will be going on a college retreat to Lake Arrowhead from Friday January 28th - Sunday January 30th. We will carpool up sometime that Friday afternoon, but if you want to go up earlier to ski / snowboard we can just meet up there. Space is limited, so the first 25 people to sign up and pay will be guaranteed a spot. The cost will be $60. It will be a great time! More details will be announced at our first meetings.

Cheers,

Wil

thanksgiving

This is a little excerpt from my blog that I'd like to just share for no reason other than it is thanksgiving and I hope someone feels the same way or is bored and has nothing else to do tonight.  Enjoy!
"Normally, I would have a lot of big things I would be thankful for like my family, my church, my girlfriend, etc. but driving home tonight, I thought about the little things I needed to be thankful for. The things we don’t really think about but just as important as everything else in our lives. Things like breathing, the rising of the sun, being able to see, our cells actively working, the molecules and atoms that holds the fabric of life together. We have so much trust that those important things will work and continue to work correctly and in doing so, our stress and anxiety is significantly lowered. Can you imagine if you had to worry that your body can fall apart if your atomic structure breaks down? Or that your wheel will fall off because of a faulty lug nut? What a stressful day!
But to let God take care of the “little” things, our worries lessen and we can continue to enjoy the life God has given us. Sometimes the “bigger” things in life can overwhelm us and cause us to stress and worry. But take a moment to think about God for a second. If God has the ability to make the sun rise and set, to hold the vast amount of stars in the sky, to keep our planets in orbit, to hold our bodies in place, to allow us to breathe automatically, and ultimately control time and space, don’t you think He can deal with our problems as well? Comparing our “big” problems to the “little” things that God has taken care of, I feel our problems are not as big as we think they are.
So thank you God for the little things in life."
